England vs Sri Lanka 3rd Test: Sri Lanka defeated England by 8 wickets in the 3rd test match played at Lord’s Cricket Ground. Both Sri Lanka’s bowlers and batsmen performed well in this test match. England gave Sri Lanka a target of 219 runs which Sri Lanka chased easily. Pathum Nissanka played a brilliant innings of 127 runs for Lanka and helped his team win. Pathum played till the end and remained not out.
Sri Lanka won the test match against England after 10 years
Sri Lanka won its last Test against England in 2014 and after 10 years Sri Lanka has defeated England. After 2014, 10 Test matches were played against England in which England won 9 Tests and one Test was drawn. But now after 10 years Sri Lanka has defeated England and finally victory was in Sri Lanka’s destiny. This is Sri Lanka’s 4th victory against England on England’s soil. Before this, they had won in 2014.
England’s dream of a clean sweep was Broken
England had defeated a team in a series clean sweep on their soil in 2004 and since then they have not been able to do so for 20 years. Today was the chance to clean sweep Sri Lanka by defeating them but it remained incomplete. There was a chance in this 3rd Test match because the first test was won by 5 wickets and the second by 190 runs. But Sri Lanka won the 3rd test by 8 wickets and England’s dream of clean sweeping the summer was Broken.
England performed very well in the 1st innings when England scored 325 runs. In reply, Sri Lanka’s team could score only 263 runs, due to which England got a lead of 62 runs in the 1st innings. Due to this, it seemed that England could win easily from here. But in the 2nd innings, England’s team was all out after scoring 156 runs. Due to which Sri Lanka got a target of 2019 runs. Sri Lanka chased this target easily. Pathum Nissanka scored a brilliant 127 runs from Sri Lanka’s side, due to which Sri Lanka won this match by 8 wickets.
