Shikhar Dhawan Decided to Retire from International and Domestic Cricket

Shikhar Dhawan gave this information through a video on social media. He made a video and posted it on the media on Saturday in which he said that he is now retiring from international and domestic cricket.

He started his cricket career for Delhi in November 2004. He has been a player and captain of the Sunrisers Hyderabad team in the IPL and was playing for Punjab in 2014 and had to be out due to injury, due to which he could not play the entire IPL.

Shikhar Dhawan scored 248 runs in 150 balls for India against South Africa on 12 August 2013. Shikhar Dhawan made his international debut in October 2010 against Australia at Visakhapatnam. He finished his innings with 187 runs off 174 balls. He made his Test debut against the same team in March 2013 at Mohali and in his debut Shikhar Dhawan scored the fastest century in Tests. In T20I, Shikhar Dhawan holds the record for most runs in a single year by a batsman with 689 runs.

In the year 2022, Shikhar Dhawan became the first Indian cricketer to hit 1000 fours in T20. He is the second highest run scorer in the history of IPL. He has 6769 runs in 222 IPL matches, average is 35.2, strike rate is 127.1 and this includes 2 centuries and 44 fifties. In the 2024 IPL, Dhawan played only 5 matches and he was also the captain of the team. In this season, Dhawan scored 152 runs.

Dhawan performed well in both ICC Champions Trophy 2013 and 2017. He was the highest run scorer in the entire tournament. Dhawan scored 338 runs in the 2017 Champions Trophy with the help of 2 fifties and a century, which also included a century.

Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma were one of the most successful openers of India in one day cricket. Both of them had partnerships of more than 5000 runs. Dhawan opened with many Indian cricketers but his pairing with Rohit Sharma was the most successful.
